Zeytintaşı Cave
Highlights
Discover a world of "popcorn" formations and delicate stalactites in one of the region's most unique caves.
A Subterranean Palace of Stone
Zeytintaşı Cave is a geological wonder located in the hills near Serik, just a short drive from Belek. Discovered accidentally in 1997, the cave is famous for its exceptionally delicate and rare "popcorn" formations and thin, needle-like stalactites. The cave is divided into two levels, and its internal atmosphere is incredibly pure and stable. Walking through its illuminated chambers, you feel like you are in an underground palace where nature has spent millions of years carving intricate works of art. It is a small but dense cave that offers a fascinating look into the subterranean world of the Taurus Mountains.
What Makes It Special
- Rare Formations: Features some of the most delicate "needle" stalactites in the world, some reaching over a meter in length.
- Intimate Experience: Unlike the massive tourist caves, Zeytintaşı offers a more quiet and detailed perspective on geology.
- Active Growth: The cave is still "living," with water slowly dripping and continuing the formation process today.
Visitor Tips
Photography is often restricted inside the cave to protect the delicate formations from light damage. The internal temperature is a constant 23°C, so it’s a great place to escape the summer heat. Wear sturdy shoes as the paths can be narrow and slightly damp.
